Working with Emilia

One fine morning I found an attractive young lady sitting in the next cubicle. As I just finished thinking that such nice girls never end up in my team, Peter (name changed) the stern looking manager brought her to my cubicle and introduced her to me as Emelia (name changed) . He told me that she would be the one running the performance testing after I move out. I looked at her face; she had a smile on her cheek and also had a glace at Peter’s face. I just could imagine these two working together. Mili is a Russian by birth but speaks more English than Russian. Her attempt to learn Tamil and Hindi along with Spanish is commendable. This shy and happy going girl had an easy first week at work and as she approached the second week, I could see stress on her face and smoking was her way to beat the stress. The source of stress for all employees is their manager and in this case, the manager was undoubtedly the one who is causing all the strife in her. I really hope that her manager never comes across this blog and even if he does, I will be far away from his sight to view all his unsympathetic looks. The last two weeks at Sensis were the only days where I looked forward to going to office because there was hardly any work for me and all I had to do was sit by her side and watch her doing things like executing a LoadRunner script, drinking a coffee and at times a smoke. Working with Emilia was fun as she could converse in a wide range of subjects ranging from her dog to her work around the world; give opinions and always keep an eye open for learning. I wish her all the best for her days at Sensis and hope she manages to find all the necessary data in my computer.
