After a months planning, 11 guys set out to the land of beaches and sunshine ‘Gold Coast’. After the initial hiccup of the flight getting cancelled, we took the next flight to Sydney and then to Gold Coast. It was almost sure that we would miss the flight to Sydney as we were really late and we could not find any taxi that could take us to the airport. At last we all managed to reach the airport in different taxi just in time for the flight. The girls almost missed the flight again after being engrossed in a bargain at a shop in the Sydney airport.
I was famished by the time we reached Gold Coast as food was not supplied inside the flight and my friend Prashanth offered me a Subway sub that was in his bag. As soon as I finished eating, I could hear the cries of a gal behind me. It was Maggie crying for the sub. I promised her to buy a new sub, but still she wouldn’t stop crying. Nothing could make her cheer up for the rest of the day.
We reached the apartment and the location of the beaches and landscape was really breathtaking to make every one really cheerful and happy. We explored the neighbouring areas and the city center at night and also dint miss wetting our feet at the beach. The surfers’ paradise was a happening place with numerous pubs and discs. Every one felt that Gold coast was a better place than Melbourne at the first experience. All the guys stayed in a different apartment in the same building to avoid the nagging by girls. Jeevan and I shared a room and soon we dozed off only to remember waking up early in the morning to the bright sunlight entering our rooms from the wind windows.
We all had a quick breakfast and headed towards the ‘DreamWorld’. After a boring but exhaustive day at the dream world we all were back at the apartment only to jump out into the city again at night. We had some dinner which included ice creams from Mc Donald’s and Hungry Jacks. We were surprised to see the fridge stacked with cans of beer and nothing else to eat apart from a few eggs that were lying around.
Every one jumped on to their beds only to wake up fresh with energy on a Sunday morning.
We went out for a morning walk with all the accessories like hats and lots of sunscreen on our sun tanned bodies only to find out Tina carrying her camera out in the morning. I obliged to click some photos for her and often thought of what would have happened to her if camera was not invented. What else would have happened, she would force some one to paint her on a canvass.
The taxi arrived and we were soon in the waters of ‘WetNWild’ having the thrill of our lives. That was the first day that Prashanth and I completed almost all the rides in a park. The whole day was spent in water and the excitement was multiplied with the rain beating hard on our backs. That did not stop us from having all the fun that we wanted to have at the park. We reached home and again jumped into the swimming pool to double the amount of fun for the day.
The third night at gold coast condor apartments was eventless and I could see tiredness on all the faces on the Monday morning.
The difference of opinions created a gap and the group split and headed in opposite directions to Sea World and Movie world. We had a relaxing day out at the sea world except Prashanth who decided to stay back and have some fun over the phone.
The seal show, the dolphin show, the 4D show and the skiing show all added to the enthusiasm. At one point I could find annoyance on Tina’s face when I asked her to look out for a different guy to be her cameraman. Then we had to coax her for more than an hour to bring her back to the swing. She was back again with smiles for more photos.
That evening was the funnies of all the other evenings that we had together at the Gold Coast. That was the night when Babu carried a passport of identification to the hungry jacks and Tina was walking around with sunscreen on her face at night when the moon was shining high up in the sky. We all had dinner at the apartment and then slept early to wake up at 3.30 AM for the flight back to Melbourne.
We dropped everyone at different locations and hurried to work on a Tuesday morning.
Babu’s camera bragging, Tina’s photo nagging, Prashanth’s people Bashing, Maggie smiling, Harry’s drinking and all the other ..ings will remain in out hearts and minds for a long time to come
